"Sense in Nonsense in Wonderland" by Elizabeth Piette
Annotation by Delaney Krall
Piette, Elizabeth. "Sense in Nonsense in Wonderland." The Victorian Web. Brown University, 2009. Web. 13 Apr. 2015.
In “Sense in Nonsense in Wonderland” (2009), Piette investigates the logic, or what Alice considers to be the lack thereof, generated by the animals in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The author applies logical theories to conversations in the book to show readers that although the characters seem to speak in fallacies, their claims follow a logical flow. The readers of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland can better understand the perspectives of the animals and their reasons for saying what they do in order to have a better understanding of the book as a whole.
